Here is where I honor two Wolf Dogs I've 

personally known.  Only once did we 

have a howling session together~

 THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THINK WOLVES ARE 

CHILD-STEALING MEANIES.  ON THE CONTRARY, 

THESE GENTLE CREATURES LIVE IN FAMILY GROUPS, 

HUNTING ONLY WHAT THEY NEED TO SURVIVE~

~NO STOCKING UP THE FREEZER ON SALE DAY 

WITH LONG-DEAD CARCASSES!  

NO DISPOSING OF HALF-EATEN STEAKS!!!!

THEY ARE PRIVATE FAMILY GROUPS THAT JUST 

WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!!  THERE HAVE BEEN 

NO RECORDED ATTACKS BY HEALTHY WOLVES 

ON HUMANS FOR TWO HUNDRED YEARS!  YET THERE 

ARE MANY CASES OF HUMANS SURVIVING AND 

BEING CARED FOR BY AND AMONG WOLF PACKS.  

HOW DO THOSE ODDS ADD UP AGAINST THE BEAST 

CALLED "HUMAN!"  THEY HAVE A MORE GENTLE 

PLAYBITE THAN DOG-PUPPIES...THEY HOLD GENTLY. 

YES, THEY WILL NIP IF THEY GET GOING, BUT DON'T 

SEEK OUT AN ARM OR LEG TO SINK INTO FOR THE 

DURATION!!  THEY DON'T CONSTANTLY TAUNT AND 

GRAB LIKE DOGS.  LILA'S AND SIFU'S MOM IS A TIMBER 

WOLF.  DAD IS A PEDIGREE GERMAN SHEPHERD.

A friend in the 'old days,' who called herself 'Algiz,' meaning Protection

or Protector in the ancient Norse Rune, made a wonderful

page about wolves.  It lies dormant and damaged now...I've reproduced it,

and have to re-correct it.  Fortune City took it over and labeled everything

they could so it returns to their business page...so if you see their blurb, it's

unintentional on my part.  Algiz had this to say about wolves' howling, and 

had links of all kinds of howls, too...I saved what I could: 

"Wolves like to howl. While resting, a single wolf may start howling. The 

next thing you know, every wolf in the place is howling up a storm. When 

wolves howl, they do not always standup and raise their heads.  Many times 

wolves will just lay on the ground and howl.  Wolves like to sing just like 

humans like to sing. Like humans, not all wolves have a great sounding howl. 

Some howls are low and mournful, they may sound sad, but they are not. 

Some have a high pitched howl and still others have a gravely sounding howl."

You need to get a certificate and list of participating veterinarians 

in your area.  "Remember, you must obtain the certificate before making 

the appointment with the veterinarian. At the time of making the 

appointment, tell the veterinarian that you will be using a 

Friends of Animals spay/neuter certificate.

1. the recommended age for spay/neutering is 2-6 months of age. 

Female animals should be spayed before their first heat (estrus cycle).

[for a wolf or hybrid it is later.  Normal estrus for a wolf is two years.]

Vets say that mammary cancer is virtually prevented if an animal 

is altered before their first heat...That, I believe, could be true for

animals who won't have a normal life of being in a pack, knowing a 

family and having a normal touring routine.

2. Confirm that the vet you choose will honor your savings certificate.

3. Certificate must be given to the vet when the animal is 

presented for the operation.

4. The FoA certificate covers the cost of a routine spay/neuter procedure 

including examination, anesthesia, surgical procedure, 

hospitalization if required, and stitch removal if necessary.

5. Innoculations are the responsibility of the pet-owner and may be
required by the veterinarian.

6. the vet may charge the pet-owner additional fees for non-routine 

procedures such as:  ~pre-diagnosed infections ~animals in estrus cycle 

~dogs 50 lbs and over ~undescended testicles ~pregnancy ~advanced age

ASK BEFORE PROCEDURE!
ALSO PLEASE NOTE:
Veterinarians and animal hospitals participating in FoA program
are governed and licensed by the state in which they are
located. They are not owned and/or operated by
Friends of Animals, Inc.  Should you have a problem
with a veterinarian regarding a spay/neuter procedure
using a FoA certificate, contact FoA in writing.

7. FOA CERTIFICATES FOR CATS ARE NOT VALID FOR USE IF 

THE CAT IS TO BE DECLAWED. CATS NEED THEIR CLAWS FOR 

PROTECTION AND FOR THEIR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL 

WELL-BEING.  DECLAWING IS PAINFUL, CRUEL 

AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY DAMAGING.

8. Certificates expire one (1) year after date of issue.
(They have a refund policy...note it carefully)

9. Receipt of your certificate AFTER they receive your check
and order, is approximately three (3) weeks.
