HONORS

THE FIRST AMERICANS

Above are three of the many great leaders of the

Indian Nations:  beloved Chief Joseph, who said,

"I will fight no more forever."  Holy Man Frank

Fools Crow (Read his 2 books) and Chief Dan George

who taught about the Hopi Prophecies and lived an

authentic life interacting with the Land.

Here's an enchanting kindred practice to "Push Hands" (T'ai Qi Chuan).

This is a dance where a couple must follow directions of the Caller while

holding an apple between their cheeks!

Tears were in my throat as I danced with my Mohawk Sisters at

FDR State Park, NYS, this Autumn 2005..

Earth Honors Those

Who Honor Earth

It has been the "RedMan's" habit to take

from the Creator's land what s/he

needs with respect; first asking

of the land to give willingly~

then to put back what Earth needs

to replenish Herself for all creatures...

and for Her sustainance.

Elders are the Teachers of Today:

Children the Leaders of Tomorrow.

Respect for all life~ALL LIFE FORMS

is Essential Today and every Day.

Our Annals of Human History are filled now,

and filling still...with proofs that the First People

indeed had and lived the reality of Life on

this Planet.  When gathering herbs, for

instance, the Wakan...meaning Sacred way

of gathering is to remember that if all the plant

is taken, there will be no seeds or roots to

engender the next generation of plants.  By

first praying near the plant, asking its permission

to harvest it, one reminds oneself that all of Life

is Sacred.  Then, by offering tobacco to the land,

one reminds oneself that only by giving back to

the land can IT survive...then, by gathering part

of the plant, or where a whole plant is needed,

only taking one or a small percentage of the

numbers available, one allows survival of the

species and honors the future searches for herbs.

Respect given circles round right back atcha, and

likewise disregard takes its toll.  These things all

Aboriginal people knew and lived.  These things

modern people had better learn and take to heart.

Prophecies are unfolding.

It behooves us to pay attention.

Land like this does not appear overnight.

Conserve and Preserve.  Put upon yourself

the task of pondering the deep meaning

of the Indian expression:  Be responsible

to the Next Seven Generations.

When you understand that; you will

begin to realize the Last Five Generations

are being healed simultaneously.

We danced for Life.  The children are so beautiful, and personify

grace and beauty.  Following them, I could not keep the grin off my face

if I'd wanted to.  They touched and strengthened the child in me.
