In The Wind!
We did this one right in front of Jugs-and-Strokers in Merrick, NY.
Just the Iron Maidens attended that one in 2000.
This Bike and Rider Blessing was at Jugs-n-Strokers in 2001, not 1997!
That was the first public Itsy Bitsy Spider Run, and it was well-attended.
Bikers are special people; a community unto themselves. They've got hearts
the size of football fields and time for every Benefit Ride that happens.
It takes courage to be out there on the road; and yes, some seem to
have a death wish as they weave in and out between car drivers...
so I ask car drivers to keep a wary eye, keep your ears open,
and respect the free heart of that biker zipping past you on the road.
They are in their "zone."
Even the mainstream newscaster asked last night (6/10/2009) for car drivers
to be aware and help Bikers stay safe.
Performing Blessings for Bikers is a special honor.
We were all bundled up for this one! The wind was fierce, but you can
see how many...and this is only one part of the number that showed up!
They were all around me in a circle.
Looking out upon a sea of colorful bikes and people tugs at my heart every time.
Honoring Laura Steckler of the Iron Maidens for the
Itsy Bitsy Spider Run has taken me to many varied locations.
I'm sending prayers and petitions on the wind with Sage here.
Depending on the style and beliefs of those I assist, I create personalized
Spiritual Ceremony based on their beliefs and traditions. This was private
for the Family of Laura Steckler and the Iron Maidens only.
A major Biker in my life; my zany daughter Irene
of the Iron Maidens MC~She rides a Screamin' Eagle
It's ALL about the ride!
in 1999 by a dedicated group of women motorcyclists...
The founding members of the Iron Maidens MC originally met while they were
members of a national women's motorcycle organization.
In 1999 these members decided to leave the national organization and form
an independent, family oriented women's riding club on Long Island.
They became official on January 1, 2000, and wear their colors proudly...
and I might add, with dignity; enjoying a Sisterhood like any other you'll find!
bring an untold wealth of motorcycle knowledge and skill to their organization.
Their purpose is to bring women motorcyclists together, promote a positive image
and safe riding. They do an amazing job of it! To see them filling the road
is just so beautiful! They are an AMA (American Motorcycle Association)
chartered club in geographic District #34 for Metropolitan New York
and abide by all the AMA by-laws and standards, and all members
belong to L.I.M.A.
(Long Island Motorcycle Association)
To be considered for membership with the Iron Maidens MC,
you must have a valid NY State motorcycle license for a minimum of one year,
own an American made motorcycle, and belong to the AMA.
They also encourage all members take the MSF Experienced Rider Course.
If you would like to join them at their monthly meeting or on one of their
scheduled rides, you can send them an email at
(sorry, guys...only for the gals!)
For ten years I've had the privilege and pleasure to officiate the Blessing
at the Itsy Bitsy Spider Run! See you Saturday July 19, 2009!
Another is Poppa Cici! We rode the track at Laconia, New Hampshire,
at 4am 'some' years ago with Irene in utero...I guess she got the 'fever' then!
The picture below was taken at the run for Jeff and Linda, a couple
who tragically went down together.
And, hey! Our Son is riding again too! I'll have to bother him for some pix!
I Officiate Weddings, Blessings, Memorials and give Spiritual Counseling.
They don't call her "Beastmama" for nothing!
lol I sure do envy my cousin Robin for the kiss she got from that Wolf!
Robin has been advocating for the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center.
For the Wolf!
She rides with the Rocky Mountain Chapter #0421 of the Harley Owners Group.
My Acupuncturist friend in California, an ex-policeman, rides with a
crowd of ex-police. Their info coming soon.
I'll be back to work on this page...again and again...lol
